The Annual Symposium on Arabic Linguistics brings together researchers, scholars, and students to share cutting-edge research in all areas of Arabic linguistics, including phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, pragmatics, sociolinguistics, psycholinguistics, and computational linguistics.
ASAL 39 is hosted by Indiana University Bloomington and will take place March 27–29, 2026. The symposium features four keynote addresses, a poster session, and multiple sessions spanning the breadth of the field.
1935 – 2024
This conference honors the legacy of the late Professor Salman Al-Ani (1935–2024) for his outstanding contributions to the field of Arabic Linguistics. His pioneering work and dedication have profoundly influenced generations of scholars and continue to inspire the study of Arabic linguistics worldwide.
The Arabic Linguistics Society (ALS) is the professional organization dedicated to advancing the scientific study of the Arabic language in all its forms. Membership in ALS is required for all presenters at ASAL 39.
